a small deciduous tree native to East Asia, known for its showy white flowers and edible fruit. It is often cultivated as an ornamental tree due to its attractive appearance and resistance to certain diseases that affect other dogwood species. (Wiki)

I personally like these trees because the fruit attracts alot of wildlife (think butterflies, birds) and I think its fruit has great potential for a juice. It is safe to eat, and they are gorgeous showy trees.

Zones 5-8 (will possibly tolerate zone 4)

C. kousa has a multi-stemmed habit and reaches a mature height and spread of 15 to 30 feet.

Soak seeds in warm water for 24 hours prior to planting in well worked soil (or potting soil), keep moist until seeds germinate. Be patient. This could take several weeks. Well worth the wait.
